MCGR’s COVID-19 Re-Entry Plan
We’ve been incredibly grateful for the ability to have continued to work with our courageous clients over the last several months via our secure online video chat platform. Since Governor Whitmer’s “Stay Home, Stay Safe” executive order has been relaxed somewhat and many of us are cautiously and slowly easing back into being out and about, we thought it would be a good time to inform everyone what our plans are to help keep our community, our clients, and ourselves safe.
We recognize that returning to face to face sessions could be a difficult decision for many as no amount of precautions can eliminate all risk. Therefore, we are allowing each of our therapists to determine when they will return to the office for in-person sessions. Additionally, we wish to respect and honor our client’s decisions by continuing to offer our counseling services via video chat for current and future clients who feel most comfortable continuing to practice social distancing. For clients who wish to return to in-person sessions, we will have a document to be reviewed and signed stating what precautions are expected in order to help keep everyone safe and healthy. The expectations are as follows:
• In-person sessions will occur for those not experiencing COVID-19 related symptoms.
• Clients will wait outside until their therapist calls or texts that they can enter the building.
• Masks or face coverings will be required in common areas.
• Wash hands or use hand sanitizer upon entering the building.
• Keep a distance of 6 feet and do not engage in physical contact (e.g. no shaking hands) with others.
• No one will be permitted to wait in the lobby before, during, or after a session.
• Anyone exposed to other people who are infected through a job or other responsibilities or activities, will notify their therapist immediately and resume telehealth sessions.
• If a resident of a client’s home tests positive for the infection, they will notify their therapist immediately and resume telehealth sessions.
It is possible that the above precautions may change in the event that additional local, state, or federal orders or guidelines are announced. We will notify all of our clients and team members of these changes if they become necessary.
We as a team will be vigilant in making sure everyone (ourselves included) in our offices follow these precautions in order to minimize the risk of exposure and/or transmission of COVID-19. Additionally, we will be regularly cleaning and sanitizing our individual offices and common areas throughout each day.
Finally, with respect to confidentiality, if it is discovered that anyone entering one of our offices has tested positive for the coronavirus, we may be required to notify local health authorities for contact tracing purposes. Should it become necessary for us to report this, only the minimum information required for data collection will be provided without any details as to the reason for being in our office(s).
We remain committed to coming alongside our community in pursuit of insight, healing, and transformation and are excited and honored to continue to do this work whether online or in person. Stay safe and healthy, everyone!
